Life's much better since I stopped paying so much attention to the news.

Most of it is just cheap sensationalism that has little to do with reality.

You’re totally right. How do they keep people coming back? By stirring up fear- it’s very manipulative. I’m out ✌🏻

Agree, though sometimes I feel guilty for not following up too much.

Just simplify as much as you can.

#7 is gold.

I'm going to remember that and pass it on to friends.

Great post Amy! Number 6 and 7 is what I'm working on now. Number 12 has a been a game changer. I barely use my phone now and this creates so much time.

Number 1 is my biggest challenge. Working... I don't want to work for someone else, I've had enough. Slowly coming to terms with this and going to make changes soon.

Thanks for your insight!

Thanks for your comment, Stefano. I agree, #12 is big in helping to release the chokehold our phones have on us. Good luck with the ones you’re working on. I still work on all of them, it’s not a once and done process.

Love this! Lots of great advice in here! #3 (divorce is a killer, takes a second lol!), #4 and #7 are the ones for me right now to focus on.

Amazing article and exactly where I am in my life right now! I just wish it hadn't taken me as long to get here, but I am here now! And like you mentioned, it is never done....just a work in progress.

Thank you Lisa, and I’m happy it resonated with you. This journey isn’t a race, as long as we keep moving forward, we are going in the right direction. Cheers!

I am sure this is great advice but it is also very hard to act on.

You’re absolutely right John - and I am still working on them, too. I take one at a time to focus on. Baby steps!

Such a good list! I’m good at some of the things and bad at the others. I’m totally addicted to my phone, which I’m working on but I spend way too much time on it. I’m also a politics junkie and sometimes it stresses me out and I have to take a break. On the upside, my house is pretty organized (though I do have a few junk drawers that could use some help). I hate clutter so try to keep things tidy. And I don’t listen to anyone for better or for worse 😂 great list!

Thanks Suzanne! I’m still working on all of them. It’s good that you know when you’re feeling stressed and need to take a break. I first realized how badly the news can affect me when 9/11 happened. Since then, I’m wary.

And then there is all the internal clutter. The mental to-do or honey-do lists, the self-talk commentaries, the regrets and shoulda coulda wouldas, the worries and anxieties of what ifs and how comes.

There’s also the body clutter of the bloat of last nights pasta dinner, or the jitters of this mornings extra cup of coffee, or the farts of the shouldn’t have had second serving of ice cream.

I do believe that the clutter that should be most subject to subtract is the “gotta fix it” as if something is always wrong. I’m okay just as I am. I’m learning growing evolving healing and progressing. My clutter from last week is sure as hell a lot different than the clutter from ten years ago (so glad I dumped the ex husband and his crap).

A 10-20 year zoom out to how my clutter has changed is really really helpful. I’ll always have clutter (and I am mostly a minimalist in my life). So I gotta give myself props for how I’ve shifted in time.

These are excellent points, Teri. We are always works in progress and our type and amount of clutter shifts over time. It’s always a wise move to be gentle with ourselves. Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to add your thoughtful comment. 🫶🏻

„more square footage“ - I am still laughing, love it!

Such a useful list. I am trying with most of your suggestions, but 7 and 8 really had me thinking.

I think my closet is still my biggest issue. Some people would say it is already quite narrowed down, but I still feel I am not wearing all of it 🤯 At least I became wayyyy more mindful about buying new things and this makes me really happy.

I’m so glad you found it useful Fabienne! I’m still working on all of these, including the clothes closet. I have made a lot of progress and it just gives me joy to simplify things. Thanks for reading!
